Your values (transparency, no BS, local network, etc.)
Photos / faces / social proof
“Why trust us with this part of your life?”
RELOCATE, INVEST, AND LIVE BETTER IN PANAMA — WITH REAL GUIDANCE. NOT GUESSES.
We help you understand residency options, open bank accounts, choose where to live, avoid scams, and make smarter decisions about real estate and business setup. Our goal is simple: make your move to Panama safer, faster, and less stressful
Why We Created Panama Explorer
Moving to a new country sounds exciting… until you actually start. Suddenly you’re trying to figure out visas, banking, neighborhoods, cost of living, and who to trust with legal or financial decisions. Most people waste time and money on the wrong advice.
We built Panama Explorer to fix that. We connect you with vetted local professionals (immigration, legal, banking, real estate) and walk you through the process step by step so you can make smart decisions before you get on the plane.
We’re not selling fantasy. We’re not a one-size-fits-all “expat package.” We’re here to protect you from stress, bad information, and expensive mistakes.
Real problems we solve:
“Which visa do I actually qualify for?”
"Am I qualified to get a work permit, and if so, what are my options?"
"How do I create a company and which setup is best for me?"
“How do I open a bank account without residency?”
“Where is it safe and affordable to live long-term?”
“Is this real estate deal legit or a trap?”
Which health insurance plans are available and right for me?
How We Help You
Moving to Panama, investing here, or even visiting for the first time can feel overwhelming. We make it simple. From residency and banking to where to live, how to land smoothly, and what to actually do once you’re here — we connect you with the right people, the right information, and the right plan. No guesswork, no tourist traps, no false promises.

About us
Panama Explorer is your trusted guide to life, travel, and opportunity in Panama. We help travelers, investors, and future residents understand the reality behind the brochure — how to visit safely, where to stay, how to get residency, how much it really costs, and where the best opportunities are.
We combine local insight, practical tools, and vetted partners to make your time in Panama smoother, safer, and more rewarding — whether you’re here for a week or planning a long-term move.
Use Case: Relocating to Panama With Support
(Not Chaos)
Profile
Sarah is 34, remote professional, moving from Canada to Panama City for at least 6 months. She’s never lived in Latin America, she doesn’t speak Spanish, and she’s worried about safety, banking, and getting scammed on housing.
1. Situation / Pain
“I’m landing in Panama in two weeks. I need somewhere safe to stay, a bank account, a path to legal residency, and I don’t want to spend the first month figuring out basic life logistics.”
Key fears:
“How do I open a bank account without permanent residency yet?”
“Which areas are actually safe and not crazy overpriced?”
“Who do I trust for legal stuff so I don’t get ripped off?”
“What if something goes wrong — who do I call?”
2. What We Do Immediately (Day 1 → Week 1)
Arrival and Setup
Airport pickup is arranged and she’s taken directly to vetted short-term housing that matches her budget.
Local eSIM and WhatsApp are set up on arrival, so she’s connected, reachable, and not at the mercy of airport kiosks.
She gets a quick safety + orientation briefing: how to get around, where not to wander at night, how much taxis/Ubers should actually cost, where to get groceries and cash.
Banking & Residency Basics
We schedule and prep her bank meeting: which branch to go to, what to bring, what not to say.
She receives a clear, realistic residency / visa path for her situation (timelines, costs, documents she still needs).
She understands how to work remotely from Panama without creating tax or immigration problems.
Outcome after Week 1: She’s not guessing. She knows her status, her next deadlines, and she has a working phone + a safe place to sleep.
3. Stabilizing Her Life in Panama (Week 2 → Week 3)
Housing & Neighborhood Fit
We present 2–3 recommended neighborhoods based on her lifestyle (walkability, safety, budget, noise, gym access, clinics).
She gets short-term vs long-term housing advice, so she doesn’t lock into a 12-month lease on day 3.
We review any rental or lease agreement before she signs and flag red terms (penalties, deposits, “furniture fees,” etc.).
Local Network
She’s introduced to a vetted lawyer (for residency), accountant (for tax/structure), and if she wants it, an insurance broker for private healthcare.
She’s shown which private clinics and hospitals people actually use in her zone — not just “Google Maps hospitals.”
Outcome after Week 3: She’s confident where she’s going to live long-term, she’s protected legally, and she has real local contacts she can call — not random Facebook comments.
4. Fully Operational, Not Just Visiting (Week 4)
Practical Life
She understands her banking status, residency timeline, and work-permit path.
She knows how to get around safely, where to shop, where to get medical help, and which areas fit her long-term lifestyle.
If relevant, she’s been guided on driving: Panama driver’s license conversion, car insurance, and what is (and is not) worth buying locally.
Her 30-Day Launch Plan
She now has a documented, personalized “First 30 Days in Panama” roadmap:
Tasks completed
Tasks remaining
Key contacts
Deadlines
Budget expectations
No noise. No guesswork. No “hope it works out.”
Outcome after 30 days: She’s not a tourist trying to figure it out. She’s established, legalizing, and moving forward with a plan.
5. Why This Matters
Most people arrive and burn their first month (and thousands of dollars) making avoidable mistakes:
Wrong area
Bad lease
Flying back to your home to get the documents you need
Useless “consultants”
Bank rejection
Panic Googling
This use case is the opposite. You land with infrastructure.

Ramón Aranha-Gericke
Founder / Local Advisor
Who We Are
Ramón is the founder of The Panama Explorer and a trusted advisor to clients relocating, investing, or establishing a legal footprint in Panama. He combines a background in high-stakes banking, business transformation and regulatory change with hands-on experience in property, relocation, and on-the-ground operational setup.
For over 15 years, Ramon led complex transformation and compliance initiatives at leading Swiss universal and private banks — including Credit Suisse, Julius Baer, UBS, and UBP — working across regulatory, compliance, and risk-heavy initiatives, leading large transformation programs with significant budgets. His work has included navigating complex financial rules and building processes that could be signed off by legal, compliance, and senior management.
In parallel, he has built and managed real-world hospitality and relocation operations — including renovation, design, pricing strategy, guest experience, and regulatory positioning for short-term rentals. He’s been the person solving the unsexy problems: bank onboarding requirements, local licensing, neighbourhood due diligence, insurance expectations, and “is this contract safe to sign?”
Panama Explorer exists because Ramon saw the same pattern over and over: people arriving in a new country with money, optimism, and zero protection. They were being sold nice stories, not real frameworks. His role is to fix that.
What Ramón brings to clients:
Residency pathway clarity: which visa track is actually viable for you, not theoretically available on paper
Banking positioning: how to walk into a Panamanian bank prepared instead of guessing
Company / tax structuring guidance: how to set up in a way that’s compliant and defensible, not just “cheap”
Housing and safety guidance: which areas make sense for your budget and lifestyle, and which to avoid
First-30-days stability: vetted local contacts (legal, accounting, insurance, property) so you’re not relying on strangers in Facebook groups
Ramon’s style is direct, risk-aware, and practical. No hype, no “$800/month in paradise” marketing, no pressure to buy a specific property. His job is to protect you from avoidable mistakes and get you functional in Panama — legally, financially, and in daily life — faster than you could on your own.
